Happy Saturday

It's the weekend!  Kade and I got up for a jug and a fresh diaper today at 4 a.m.  Somebody wasn't tired at all and somebody was very tired.  I'll let you make that call.  Back in bed by 5 and up at 7.  Enough is enough Dad!  I don't know how anybody can get out of bed and then two seconds later wide awake and making noise!  We hung out in jumperoo for a bit and played with toys.  We all know what playing in jumperoo means...a dirty diaper.  So Kade and I decided to try a bath before Mom was even awake.  Man it's tough getting all those creases!

Splish Splash, Kade was takin' a bath 'long about a Saturday morning
A rub dub, just relaxing in the tub, thinkin everything was all right

When it was all said and done I think we did all right.  I don't know how Mom didn't wake up to our singing, but she didn't even know bath time was complete when she woke up.  Johnny Tractor is warming up to go scoop snow this morning.  Really, there is a loader on the front end.  Can't you see it! :-)

Mom likes to check if cloths still fit me and this morning it was my stocking cap.  I wasn't even going outside!
It's been a long morning folks so I think I'll take a nap sideways in my bed with my foot handing out.  Haven't seen this position before!  You just never know.

It looks like a winter wonderland outside right now with huge snowflakes filling the air.  I feel like we should go sledding, snowmobiling, or something.

Have a great weekend!

Baller

I was struggling to come up with a topic for this week's post, until tonight when I got Kade ready for bed.  Lady A gave him a basketball hoop for a Christmas gift this year and once in awhile I'll shoot a few hoops on it.  Tonight, Kade was laying on the floor watching me and every time I missed (which was a lot) he would laugh hysterically.  I wasn't saying anything to make him laugh, I was just missing my shot!  Which got me thinking about this video.  I'm not going to lie, it's been cropped, so he didn't make a basket on his first try.  I might've cut out almost 1 minute of video before we got the "money" shot :-)

I've mentioned before how I played sports in high school but I wasn't very good at them.  However, Erik was an amazing high school athlete.  We couldn't have been more opposite if we tried.  Me: bench warmer, Erik: only sat down to get a drink of water and even that was rare!  Me: 5'1" not too intimidating on any playing field, Erik: 6'5" and coordinated (by 9th grade), a coach's dream.  Me: got my name in the paper one time because I scored 6 points and that was only because the girl I subbed in for got moved up to starter because our starter got bit by a dog about an hour before tip off, Erik:  the only time he wasn't in the paper, or on the news for sports highlights, was because there wasn't a game that day.

Erik is THRILLED he has a son, he cannot wait to get Kade a glove, play catch with the football and teach him how to shoot a basketball.  He was thrilled when he learned Lady A and Kade's birthfather are both really into sports.  And, between you and me, I think he's thrilled Kade has zero of my athletic genes :-)  Don't get me wrong, we will love and support Kade no matter what.  If he doesn't play sports that is okay with both of us but with his genetics and our nurturing I think there's a good chance he'll like them.

This is our tv in the basement.  Why watch movies on it when you can watch a game?!

Kade and Dad, best seats in the house!

Great game, Dad!  Now who's playing??

6 month appointment

I feel like every week I say it's a big week but I guess that's expected when babies change so much from day-to-day.  Kade got his first tooth in on Saturday!  It's crazy how fast that happens since on Friday evening there was nothing there and then Saturday morning-VOILA!-a tooth!

We just got back from his 6 month appointment.  4 shots :-(  I'm always amazed at how fast he recovers once we soothe him but he was definitely giving those ladies in the blue uniforms (aka the nurses, aka the evil needle jabbers) the stink eye for the rest of the appointment.  The stats: 20 pounds (80th percentile), 27.5 inches (81st percentile) and his head is still holding steady in the 89th percentile.

It's funny, I started this blog for Lady A and her family because if I were in her position I'd want to know how Kade is doing and what he looks like from week-to-week.  However, I think Erik and I look at this blog more than anybody!  On days that I work I look at the pictures probably a dozen times!  The other day I looked back at the first few posts and the pictures I'd posted.  I can't believe how much Kade has changed!  We took a picture of Kade in his car seat when we got back from his first appointment, he was 3 days old.  I took a picture today right before we left for the appointment.  How is this even the same kid???  By the way, his hair always looks red in pictures...not sure why??  But it's very blonde and I swear I can see it growing longer and thicker by the minute :-)

3 days old

190 days old

Here's my first tooth!!!  Gotta look closely, it's right above Mom's finger.

Another laughing video

Videos of Kade laughing seem to be a hit, so here's another!  He does have a great laugh but I am pretty biased so I'm not sure my opinion counts.  Erik can get Kade to laugh much better than I can so I'm behind the camera a lot!  That's probably a good thing though because I tend to look pretty rough on my days off.

Kade has changed so much this week!  He's rolling both ways now, although he's only rolled from stomach-to-back a couple times, but still!  He's sitting up almost completely unassisted for lengths at a time.  We don't leave his side yet because he still tends to lean and tip like a drunken sailor.  He's found his feet and likes nothing better than to pull his socks off and put them in his mouth.  There's signs of his top teeth coming in and he's starting to enjoy standing a little bit.  My baby is growing up :-(

Uh oh, Michael.  The paparazzi are back.

Hey, you like your feet too?  Do you think our mom's will ever stop taking our picture?

Here, help me down and we'll try to get away from them!

Bedtime

7:30 is the magical bedtime hour in our house.  Try putting Kade to bed earlier and he'll talk, or cry, until 7:30.  Any later and he won't sleep as well during the night.  On the evening this video was taken we had been out and about all day and we missed a few naps.  Kade was pretty tired and fairly cranky (although you won't see that in this video) so we figured bedtime would be earlier.  Wrong.  Of course Softy, I mean Dad, went and got him out of bed after some fussing by Kade.  Not that I blame Erik but one of us has to be the strong one!  I'm glad Dad caved though because otherwise we would've missed this.  By the way, he likes it when we imitate him but after hearing myself talk to Kade....eww, do I really sound like that?!?

I just have to include this picture because it looks like Kade is telling his Uncle Jeremy one darn good story!
