Funny Kade

I've been trying to get Erik to do a post, until then we'll tide ourselves over with funny things Kade says!

Naps aren't going so well these days. He doesn't really fight them, he just doesn't go down as well as he used to. He also doesn't stay asleep as long either. I guess that means he's getting older, huh? :-(

Today, after I put him down, I grabbed the monitor and headed outside. He chatted, sang, jumped and fake cried for a good 25 minutes. All the while I listened and let him figure it out for himself. I also texted Erik a play-by-play.

Kade sang "Big Green Tractor", had a full conversation with High Tops (his stuffed giraffe), during which he told High Tops that he was a big boy and that he was sorry (who knows what's going through that cute, little blonde head of his?!). The best is when he very clearly said into the monitor, "Mom! I'm awake! I not sleeping! I gonna play! Okay?"

And here we are, exactly 1 hour later and he's sleeping like a baby...I mean, a big boy.

P.S. today's photos are from last week when he fought the nap so hard I ended up getting him out of bed and held him while he slept for 2 hours! I'm not going to complain about that but I did have to go to the bathroom for 1 hr and 45 min of that time :-)

A Conversation With a 2 Year Old

Kade: Aunt Erna (Erin) is working.
Me: You're right, she is!
Kade: Only Aunt Erna works.
Me: Really? Well, what do Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa do then?
Kade: They eat ice cream.

Correction - Mom's learning though

Kade and I are working very hard with Mom to teach her all the farm equipment.  She is getting pretty good, but I see we still have a little work to do.  In the previous post Kade is not sitting on a big "corn bombine".   It is a four wheel drive 9460R I believe (might have to double check with Kade after daycare) with 460 HP and a 24-speed manual shift or 18-PowerShift with Efficiency Manager.  Surprise Mom missed this one :-)

A corn planter is no longer a "seed spreader".  A forage harvestor (aka chopper) is no longer called a "dinosaur neck".  A field cultivator is no longer called a "field comb".

Kade also has Mom keeping a pretty close eye out for Bobcat's when traveling down the road.  Kade is still usually the first to point them out, but Mom has beat him a couple times!

See...Kade and I are making great progress!

More pictures. See previous post for the first batch

Eating cherry tomatoes straight from the garden, that must be what makes them so delicious because if you put one on his plate at the dinner table he won't touch them!
Kade spent Monday's this summer on the farm with Grandpa and Grandma.  He's a farmer through and through!  He even said this to me the other day, "I'm a hard worker because I'm a farmer!".

Helping Grandpa with his "chores".

The most read book ever.  As you can tell by the cover, it's right up Kade's alley!!

Hanging with his cousin, Violet.

At the fair, sitting on the "corn bombine" (as Kade calls it).

This picture was taken at 5:00 in the afternoon after a day of playing with friends and no nap.  He was exhausted and CRABBY when we woke him up to eat dinner! :-)

Random Summer Pictures

After looking through all the pictures we took this summer I realized there were some good ones that never made it into a blog post. There's some from the fair, the MN zoo and other various warm summer days.

This is a post of summer pictures, which makes me a little sad because summer is over. Another thing that makes me sad is Kade told me the other day that he's going to school and he's going to ride the school bus with his new shoes on. I'm not ready for school talk yet!!!

In one of the pictures it appears that Santa is in the background. He is. It was a Christmas In July thing at the park. Kade wasn't a big fan of him so that was our improvisation of getting a picture with Santa. As Santa was driving away Kade asked, "Where is the bad guy going?". He's got a lot to learn!!

Sorry for the randomness of the pictures! I still can't organize them or add captions with the blogger app on the iPad. Technology....geesh!!
Very first taste of a s'more!  He loved them as evident on the picture below, that's marshmallow all over his chin.

A weekend project:  Expanding our fire ring.  I think Kade worked harder than either Erik or I did!

Erik's mom's side of the family gets together every year for a picnic, we unofficially call it "Christmas In July".  Here we are burying Brennan, the other Eric and Kristi's son (there's 2 Erik and Kristi's in the family!).

I don't know what we were thinking, not putting these kids in their swimsuits?!  Here's Brennan, Elizabeth, Reid and Kade--cousins.

Apparently the park also celebrates a "Christmas In July"!  Totally random that we happened to be there that weekend!
Kade's very first picture with "the bad guy" :-)
Molly and Kade out for a stroll.
Kade's discovered Bob the Builder.  However, we don't get the channel so he watches youtube clips instead.

Super Kade!!!!

Mini Vacation

Last week Erik, Kade and I took a mini vacation to Jellystone in WI.  It was our first family vacation!  There was an indoor and outdoor water park so Kade and Erik were in heaven!  Of course we forgot to take any pictures til the last day.

Kade is a fish, he loves the water!!  Lady A has assured his love of water does not come from her genes :-). He jumps in without any fear, goes down water slides by himself and swims mostly on his own.  He'll even pretend to sleep in the water when we tell him to, which is what he's doing in one of the pics below.

It was a good time and we can't wait to go back next summer!
