Kade Has a Cousin!!

Kade's first cousin was born on Monday!!  My brother, Jeremy, and his wife, Evelyn, had a daughter...Vivienne Rae!  She just happens to have the same middle name as me so that just makes it extra special :-)  Welcome to the world little lady!!
I thought she looked like a chunker until I realized Kade weighed almost a pound more than her!!  She was 7 lbs. 10 oz.  and Kade was 8 lbs. 9 oz!!

We've been working with our neighbors trying to get a playground set up for the boys in our backyards.  Finally, after a year of searching we bit the bullet and bought one.  Those things aren't cheap!!  I can't wait to see the boys playing on it though!

It was delivered yesterday and Kade LOVED watching the semi pull up in front of our house.  He's been talking about the "big truck" non-stop ever since.  It breaks my heart to see his face when I tell him it's not coming back.

This is how he looked for about 15 minutes while the play set was being unloaded.

It was all I could do to get him to tear his eyes away for a second while I took his picture.  Look at that grin!

This video was taken on Erik's phone so it's not super clear.  We took advantage of last weekend's warm temperatures and had a picnic with Erik's family.  Here is Jay teaching Kade some fundamentals of football.  Kade appears to be a natural!!

He's either going to be a lineman or a track star!  Although he hasn't quite grasped the concept of finishing the race.  If Uncle Jay and Aunt Jenna wouldn't be so competitive and just let the little guy win, I think it would really help boost his confidence :-)

This kid has it made!  Feet on the table, being fed an ice cream cone.  All he needs is someone fanning him! I would just like to point out that this picture really shows my immense love for Kade because I NEVER share my ice cream and he ate almost all of it and I didn't even mind!!

Big Boy Hair

Kade needed a haircut.  Desperately.  The first haircut he had went fine, the second one was a disaster-to put it mildly.  We took him to a salon bright and early in the morning so there wouldn't be too many witnesses out and about because we knew it was going to be bad.  The screams coming out of Kade can only be compared to the screams someone would make if their fingernails were slowly being pulled out.  It was torturous for everyone.

The third time was almost a charm.  We decided to just shave it all off and that could be done in the comfort of our own home.  Of course, anyone listening in would've thought we were pulling fingernails again.

Unfortunately we don't have any documentation of it because while I shaved, Erik distracted.  He got Kade's utility tractor and a couple horses and pretended that Kade's hair was hay.  Farmer Kade needed to scoop the hay and feed it to the horses.

I was delaying shaving his head because he never lost any of his baby hair.  To shave it would mean to get rid of any baby left in Kade :-(  We now have the oldest looking 19 month old I've ever seen.

In honor of March Madness, here's some pictures of the cutest slam dunker ever...Air Kade Man.

On Tuesday, Kade and Michael's daycare was closed so I took the day off to hang with the Kade Man.  Michael's very pregnant mom (who is now no longer pregnant!  Welcome Taylor John!!) wasn't feeling well so I took Michael for the day as well.  Kade was in heaven because he got to spend the day with "My My"!!  Of course I took tons of pictures because what's cuter than 2 toddlers toddling around the house?!

Books, tractors and Michael...a perfect day in Kade's opinion.

Knock, knock.  Who's there?

I couldn't pick a favorite picture, so I'll just post them all!!

We're going to have make these 2 wear cowbells when they are older, so we can hear them in the woods!

I wish I had video of this.  Every time Kade dumped rocks into Michael's bucket they would both laugh hysterically.   They make a good team!

The Important Milestones

Sleeping through the night at 3 months.  Walking at 10 months.  Dunking his own Oreo at 18 months.  It's the important milestones that count.

Paybacks

In the nearly 19 months that Kade's been alive, he's spit up just 1 time.  Once.  We never even bothered with a burp rag when he was a baby because this kid keeps his food down!  He's still an eater.  Doesn't matter what we put on his plate, he devours it.  Sadly, his near-perfect record was wiped out last night.

We went to swimming lessons and he was fine.  Came home and played for an hour and he was fine.  Just as we were coming upstairs to have some milk before he bed he started crying and we couldn't figure out why, and then the flood gates opened up!  I didn't think that much puke could come out of such a little person!!  He continued to throw up 6 more times in a 3 hour period.  Poor guy, by the end there was nothing left.  He went through 5 sets of pajamas, and Erik and I went through 5 sets of clothes!

We thought maybe he drank too much swimming pool water and caught something from that.  We were cursing swimming lessons and vowing to never sign up for them again!  However, this morning I got a call from daycare saying that all the boys had been throwing up and whatever the bug is, it leaves just as fast it comes.  Which is true because Kade slept through the night and is completely normal today.  He's eating everything in sight and everywhere I look I see destruction in the wake of Kade-O the Tornado.

The saddest looking sick boy I've ever seen :-(
