1st Haircut

It was finally time to chop off the baby mullet.  I was waiting until summer was over because when it's hot Kade's hair gets the best curls.  Since the humidity has disappeared so have the curls and we were left with hair that only an 80's graduate could love.  Lucky for me, one of my best friends went to school to cut hair!  So no worries if Kade didn't sit still or if he acted up.  He was a little wiggly but Kari assured me he did better than most kids (she might have been just saying that) but at least he didn't cry!
"Just a comb?  I can handle that".
Notice his shoes?  Kari's son, Jaxon, has outgrown them so we were seeing if they fit Kade.  Not only did he get a haircut, he also got a bunch of clothes!  What a deal!

Hey Lady, it's taking you an awful long time to just comb my hair.

What the H is going on back there?!

The finished product.  What a handsome little man!

We love watching the school bus go by.  The bus driver even waves, which is the highlight of Kade's boring days at home with mom.

A family picture.

And now it's time to get dirty.

Lady A and her family gave Kade some super cute pajamas for his birthday.  Here's a couple pictures of him in them.

Hey Superman, thinking about fighting some crime?  Or hitting the hay?

Has anybody seen my race car?

It's not in the bathroom...

Do you have my car??

Kade the Helper

Kade has really started to want to help with a lot of things lately.  He LOVES feeding Molly her food.  He goes to the door where we keep her dog food about every half hour.  Of course Molly is on board with that plan so Erik and I have to redirect both of their attention quite often.

He grabs the dish towel after we finish wiping him down after dinner and likes to wipe his tray.  Of course Molly is on board with that too because that just means more food for her gets pushed to the floor!

He helps me carry the laundry baskets to the laundry room.  Today he even helped put the empty one back in our room!

The first thing he does when we go outside is push the button to open the garage door.  Then he grabs the broom and "sweeps" the floor.  By that I mean he drags it around the garage, but it's the thought that counts.

I think we're going to have a little man that likes to "do work".  Yes!
See ya Mom!  Dad and I are headed to the farm to do some work!

Carhartts and a padded flannel, just need some steel toe boots!

No worries, Mom.  I got the dishes tonight.

I'll take the dog for a walk too.

Dirty laundry has never been so cute!

First load is in!  I'll go get the next one ready.

A Post For Rozie

My aunt, Rozie, has been hinting--strongly--that she wants her picture on the blog.  By hinting I mean she sent me her school picture (where she works, not as an enrolled student).  I'm not sure how this is possible but I don't have any pictures of her and Kade together so I've never had the chance to put her on the blog.  Until today.  Kade found her picture in a drawer (sorry, Rozalita!) and carried it around with him for about a half hour.

This is for you, Rozie!

Hey!  Look who I found in the drawer!  It's my Crazy Great Aunt Rozie!

Somewhat appropriately, she made a trip into the bathroom to play with the roll of toilet paper.  Where I realized, yet again, I forgot to put the roll on the counter so it doesn't end up in a pile on the floor.

Hey Rozie, do you want to bounce on my chair with me??  It's one of my favorite things to do!

One of my other favorite things to do is to throw random objects over the gate and watch them bounce down the stairs!

Don't worry Rozie!  I'll save you!!

Rozie who??  I'm going outside.

Here lies Rozie, with a defunct VCR remote and a coaster....

Livin' On a Prayer

Anybody that knows Erik knows that the only way to get him on the dance floor is either a lot of alcohol and/or Bon Jovi.  Kade just needs a beat and his hips start shaking but for some reason Bon Jovi gets the best reaction.  Like father, like son?  How is that possible?!?  I'm still amazed at how similar Kade and Erik are.  My only explanation is, "The Lord works in mysterious ways".  Enjoy another dance video, courtesy of Kade William...whose moves give Elvis some stiff competition!

Almost Forgot...

I've been doing this blog for a year now and this is the 1st time I've forgotten to do a post !  Thanks for the reminder, Jenna :-)

Kade seems to have matured into a kid with his own personality in this past week.  He's much sturdier on his feet, he looks like he's grown taller and now he's starting to throw tantrums if he doesn't get his way.  Luckily, so far, it's just one outburst and then he's on to something else.  No laying on the floor, kicking his arms and legs, just yet.

He's raising his arms up for "Sooo Big!" and "Touchdown!", we're still working on holding up 1 finger when we ask how old he is but once in awhile he'll surprise us.  He High 5's and sorta does knuckles.  He's able to point things out when we ask him where so-and-so is, although he refuses to point to Mommy (little stinker!  I think he does it on purpose!)

No words yet but he carries on full conversations in gibberish (we like to say he's speaking Russian :-)  The other night we watched Michael (the neighbor) for the evening.  While Erik was giving Kade his bedtime milk, and I did the same for Michael, the boys were carrying on a conversation.  Kade would "talk" for a minute, then wait for Michael to respond.  Michael usually just said "no, no", so Kade would say something else.  I think they were planning something sneaky but Michael wasn't liking any of Kade's ideas.  It was hilarious!

Time for the good stuff...
He got these Carhart bibs as a shower gift from my cousin last year.  They finally fit him!  Can you tell Erik dressed him though?  Tie dye and Carharts???  Only my husband would think that looks good.
We had a play date with Olivia and Ellie a couple weeks ago.  This is the best we could get of the 3 of them together.
Thank goodness for Molly at meal time!  She keeps my floor spotless, no matter what Kade throws at her.

Uh-oh, they've hijacked the neighbor's gator!!  Luckily neither one's legs are long enough to reach the gas pedal.

Alright Michael, enough of this passenger business...

Hold on!  I'm taking the wheel!!

My aunt, Robyn, won this from a raffle held by the water ski show.  Guess who the proud owner is now?!?

Faster Grandpa!!!  We aren't gettin any younger!
