Ok these pictures are completely out of order.

The end of basketball season took us straight into baseball without much of a break!  Kade and mason both played in a 3:3 tournament.  It wasn’t super competitive (as you’ll see in pictures below of kade playing.)
The next week Kade started his spring baseball season for school ball.  He started out on JV but moved to varsity after a few games.

There was a varsity tournament that Kade was told he needed to be at but wouldn’t play.  Erik and Mason were fishing down the road, I was barely watching the game.  Well, it was the bottom of the last inning, we were down with the tying run on 1st.  2 outs, bases loaded.  I happened to look up and see Kade on deck!  His first varsity pitch (he’s in 8th grade).  He swung, got a base hit!  We still ended up losing by 1 run but from then on, he played varsity.  Right field and last hitter in the line up but still 😆 can only move up from there!

A couple times varsity had two 8th graders and a 7th grader in the lineup.

These 3 have been playing together since they were 7!

3:3 tournament
Erik couldn’t resist giving a few pointers even though there wasn’t supposed to be coaches.

Kade playing against his summer baseball teammates.  Not a lot of great basketball was played this game.

But Kade’s team did end up winning it all!

More winter picture catch up

Of course these didn’t load in order 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mason 11th birthday was in February, he talked me into a sleepover and ice fishing with 3 buddies.

Kade and Erik braving the cold with those 4 hooligans!

Mason’s birthday is right after his cousins’ Isaac and Eve and the day before Uncle Mike’s.  So we just did a family celebration with all the birthdays.

Bubba and Nibble.  Those 2 are pretty dang entertaining!

One of the dress up days in school this year was dress as your first initial (i.e. Kristi Kite). So mason dressed as the elementary principal, Mr. Midge!

He’s such a fun, easy going guy who totally speaks Mason’s language.  So we had fun with this one!!

Mr Midge gave Mason and his buddies the nickname “The Naughty Niners”.  Mason’s buddy Nyle (who is a Niner) dressed up as a Naughty Niner.
Mason handed out pink slips 😆

More basketball!

The boys ice fished, I brought lunch. Hot dogs and chips on the frozen lake!  It was a great afternoon!!

Christmas and Basketball

As I’m sitting here on our summer vacation, it’s weird to be blogging about Christmas and basketball!  But here we are.

Christmas Eve church service

My Christmas Eve dinner kitchen helpers!

The annual kids and pups in front of the tree.
The pups keep appearing smaller in the growing boys’ arms!

I couldn’t get these to upload in order.

This year the varsity boys basketball team played a game in Target Center.  Afterwards we watched the Timberwolves play.  The tickets included both games.  It was the first time the boys have seen an NBA game live.  They loved it!

We had nosebleed seats, but we got to be on court side
seating for warmups.
It was pretty cool seeing how tall NBA players are, how amazing they are at handling the ball and shooting (even the ones that don’t normally showcase that talent in the game).  The boys were blown away with the level of skill!  And it was cool seeing players up close when you’ve only seen them on tv

Dinner between games

Varsity warming up

Mason’s team.
They aren’t great but dang did they show improvement every week!  And even won a few games!  Slow and steady might win the race for this group of players.
